FIU no match for Raiders offensive power

MURFREESBORO, TENN – Middle Tennessee (6-8-1) secured their third conference victory on Thursday night after defeating Florida International (2-12-0) by a score of 3-1. The Blue Raiders had three different goal scorers on the night with Peyton DePriest, Hannah Tillett, and Maddison Falter each putting one away.
Tillett scored the first goal of the match just 15 minutes in from the penalty spot. That penalty kick goal puts Tillett at 10 for 10 for penalty kicks in her career an impressive feat that is more difficult than it seems.
That would not be the only penalty kick goal of the match for the Blue Raiders, as Peyton DePriest would get her opportunity at one just three minutes into the second half. DePriest now is just three goals back from breaking the all-time career goal record for MTSU, a record that is held by Holly Grogan with 35 goals.
Maddi Falter put the nail in the coffin in the 81' minute, scoring off a beautifully executed set piece with an assist from Hannah Tillett. That goal puts Falter at 3 goals on the season and gives Tillett her seventh assist which is tied for second in C-USA.
Not only were the offensive sparks flying for the Blue Raiders, but the defensive line played a near perfect match. Holding the Panthers to just seven shots in total compared to the 23 MT was able to fire off. FIU's lone goal came off a corner kick late in the second half.
NEXT UP – The Blue Raiders will be back at home on Sunday October 20, facing off against another C-USA opponent in FAU. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
RECORD WATCH
Junior forward Peyton DePriest is 2nd all-time in program history with 36 career goals scored. She is just three goals shy of breaking the all-time record which is currently held by Holly Grogan with 38 goals scored. Be sure to continue watching as DePriest breaks records.
