Blue Raiders Drop Match to UTSA, 3-0

SAN ANTONIO, Texas—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team fell to UTSA in three sets Sunday afternoon by scores of 19-25, 15-25, 19-25. The Blue Raiders falls to 12-15 on the year and 5-7 in the conference, while the Roadrunners improve to 15-10 overall and 8-4 in the league.
Dora Peonia led the team in kills with 11 total on the match. Bri Tankesley led the defense with nine digs, and Taylor Hammill tallied 28 assists. The Blue Raiders out blocked the Roadrunners 5.0-4.0.
Set-By-Set
The Blue Raiders scored the first point of the match with a kill from Urte Neimantaite. UTSA responded with a kill, but MT went on a 2-0 run that included another Neimantaite kill to take a 3-1 lead. The teams battled back-and-forth tying up the score six more times before UTSA broke off and took a 16-12 lead. The Roadrunners claimed set one 25-19 with a kill.
MT scored first again in set two, but the Roadrunners tied it up right away. The last tied score of the set was 6-6 when UTSA went on a 3-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. The Blue Raiders came within one at 10-9, but the Roadrunners broke away and took a bigger lead, eventually taking the set 25-15.
In set three, the Blue Raiders took a 7-2 lead after a few UTSA errors and three consecutive Peonia kills. MT held on to the lead until the Roadrunners tied it up at 11-11 with a kill. UTSA then took the lead and held on to it until MT tied it up at 14-14. The Blue Raiders trailed closely behind the Roadrunners the rest of the set, but UTSA claimed the set 25-19, and the match.

- Urte Neimantaite tallied a career-high 19 kills on two occasions, against Tennessee Tech and Marshall. She has one double-double on the season and has led the team attacks on nine occasions.
- Neimantaite is ranked 10th in the conference for her average 3.23 kills per set.
- Taylor Hammill recorded her 2,000th career-assist against Marshall on October 11. She has also recorded 12 double-doubles this season. Hammill is ranked third in the conference for her 10.08 assists per set.
- Hammill recorded a season-high 52 assists on two occasions and a season-high 18 digs.
- Bri Tankesley recorded her 1,000th dig against UT Martin on October 22. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Alabama A&M and a season-high 26 digs against Marshall.
- Tankesley is also ranked eighth in the conference for her average 3.72 digs per set, and is tied for second on the team in service aces with 21 total.
- Amalie Jorgensen nearly doubled her career-high blocks against North Texas, finishing with 11 total on the match.
- Kayla Henley has recorded four double-doubles on the season. She also tallied a career-high 19 digs against Western Illinois.
- Marley Banton leads the team in service aces with 23 total on the year.
- Mikaela Weidmann leads the team in blocks with 90.0 total, and is tied for second on the team in service aces with 21.
