Men's Tennis to Host Three Matches

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee's men's tennis team opens up conference play this weekend against Rice before taking on South Alabama and Alabama A&M in a doubleheader Sunday, all at home.
The Blue Raiders will host Rice on Friday at 5 p.m. then South Alabama (11 a.m.) and Alabama A&M (3 p.m.) in doubleheader action Sunday.

This will be the 11th meeting between the Blue Raiders and Owls. Rice comes into Friday with a 6-2 record this year, falling to LSU and Elon. Last season, Rice finished 9-17 overall and went 2-2 in Conference USA competition, losing in the opener of the C-USA Tournament against the Blue Raiders 4-0.
South Alabama
Series: Jaguars lead, 21-10
Last Meeting: March 24, 2018, MT won 4-1
Sunday's match will be the 32nd meeting between the Blue Raiders and Jaguars. USA is 4-2 on the season with wins over Cal Poly, Xavier, UAB and Samford. Last year, the Jaguars finished 15-10 overall and won the Sun Belt championship over Georgia State 4-1.
Alabama A&M
Series: Blue Raiders lead, 4-0
Last Meeting: March 31, 2018, MT won 6-1
The Bulldogs are 0-2 on the season and face off against Samford on Friday. Last season, Alabama A&M finished 3-11 overall and 2-5 in SWAC play.
MT players to watch
No. 85 Gonzalo Morell Raschiatore – jumped up 34 spots to No. 85 in the ITA singles rankings last week with a 2-2 record in No. 1 singles.
Max Rauch/Francisco Rocha – 9-3 overall, and the duo is on a six-match win streak with a dual win against Vanderbilt, 6-3. Rocha bolsters a 15-4 dual match record since August 2018, while Rauch is 13-6 in singles competition, winning seven of the last nine.
Chris Edge/Tom Moonen – the pair was ranked No. 32 in the ITA doubles rankings in the fall. Currently, they have an 8-5 overall record, and Edge is holding his own in singles, winning six of the last seven matches with a 9-6 overall record.
Pavel Motl – the freshman is riding a three-match win streak in singles with an overall of 12-8.
Daniel Stormon – another freshman who holds an eye-popping 12-2 dual record.
