KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee put forth a tremendous effort but No. 19 Tennessee was too much as the Blue Raiders dropped a hard-fought 6-1 decision to the Volunteers.

Max Rauch used his passion and ace serves to earn the Blue Raiders their only point of the match. After the Vols claimed the win, Rauch continued to battle on court four taking the first set 6-4. UT responded back taking set two forcing a tiebreaker where Rauch would win on an ace serve.

For the first time in nine matches, the Blue Raiders did not take the first point of the match. After No. 59 Chris Edge / Tom Moonen fell 6-2 on court one, Rauch and Francisco Rocha knotted things up on court three but the Vols broke twice to take the point.

Unfortunately, for the Blue Raiders, they were only able to capture one singles win despite pushing Tennessee to the limit in several sets.

Stijn Slump continued to put forth strong efforts after dropping the first set, he then forced a tiebreaker on set two but Vols prevailed.

The Blue Raiders will be tested as they continue on the tough road trip as they head to No. 22 Arizona (Mar. 4) and No. 15 Oregon (Mar. 7). Before heading back to Murfreesboro to square off against ETSU on Friday, March 15th.
