MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The 2018 Conference USA title defense officially begins on Saturday in San Antonio, as Middle Tennessee opens C-USA play against the UTSA Roadrunners with a three-game set on the road.

UTSA leads the all-time series with a 4-2 mark. The Blue Raiders are currently on a two-game win streak, including an 18-0 win in game two of a three-game series in 2016, followed by a 7-5 win in extra innings to wrap up the series.
With a two-run home run to center field in the fourth inning against Austin Peay, junior Lexi Cushing tied the school's career home run record. One more homer would give her 24 home runs in her career, making her the all-time leader in that category in Blue Raider history.
Trafford, Alabama, native Corrina Dodd has emerged as a leader in the circle for the Blue Raiders, leading the team in WHIP (1.21), wins (7-2), and appearances (15). The freshman also leads the team in complete games with four, including one shutout.
In her last time out, Dodd struck out both Belmont batters she faced in the top of the seventh inning to put an end to the Bruin run after they tied the game to force extra innings. After she kept the Bruins off the board in the eighth inning, Ryan King singled to bring home Cushing, giving Dodd her seventh win of the season.
The last time the Blue Raiders played UTSA, MT took two of three from the Roadrunners in San Antonio. The teams split the Friday night doubleheader, with UTSA taking the first game, 7-1, followed by an 18-0 showing by the Blue Raiders in the nightcap. MT returned to Roadrunner Field on Saturday to win in eight innings over the host team, 7-5.
In their last time on the road in the 2019 campaign, MT dropped a 2-1 decision to San Diego State in the Campbell/Cartier Classic. In their only other road decision this season, the Blue Raiders lost by a score of 8-2 against then-No. 24 ranked Mississippi State in the Bulldog Kickoff Classic.
