Raiders Advance to the C-USA Championship

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee clinched a spot in the Air Force Reserve C-USA Championship for the first time in program history with a 4-1 decision over Old Dominion.
Ever since joining the Conference USA in 2014, the Blue Raiders have advanced to the semifinals for four-straight years. Never advancing to the finals, until today. Earlier in the season the Monarchs defeated the Raiders at the Conference USA pod by a score of 4-1. Poetic as it is, the Blue Raiders revenge comes at that same scores.
The Blue Raiders grinded out a highly competitive doubles point that came down to the wire. On court three, Gonzalo Morell and Pavel Motl started slow falling behind to a 3-0 deficit. That is when the Raiders woke up. The No. 3 duo won six-straight points to take the first match. Max Rauch and Francisco Rocha also fell behind by a score of 2-0 but pulled out the doubles clincher, 6-4. No. 86-ranked Chris Edge and Tom Moonen were left unfinished tied at 6-6 with No. 22-ranked duo.
MT did not look back after taking the first point. Chris Edge quickly earned the Raiders second point with a 6-4, 6-2 winner. Followed up by who many would call the 'man of the hour' Sitjn Slump 6-4, 6-4 clutch win on court two. Max Rauch, Pavel Motl and Tom Moonen were left in a race to see who would earn the clincher. That would be Max with a three-set winner, sending them to the 'ship.
