Crawford Announces 2019 Volleyball Schedule

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee head coach Chuck Crawford announced the 2019 volleyball slate on Wednesday afternoon.
"This seasons schedule is a mixture of teams that have been traditional NCAA tournament teams, such as St. Mary's and other teams that are in the same phase we are, as they have been rebuilding their programs for the past few years as well," stated head coach Chuck Crawford. "The players that we have coming in, in addition to our returning players are the right mixture of skill and confidence to continue to build the Middle Tennessee volleyball program".
The Blue Raiders open their season at the Marcia E. Hamilton Classic hosted by Saint Louis University on Friday, Aug. 30 to Saturday, Aug. 31. Middle Tennessee will compete against host, St. Louis on Friday evening before rounding off the weekend with a double-header on Saturday, competing against Portland State and Southern Illinois.
During the second weekend of the season, the volleyball squad will travel to Cedar City, Utah to compete in the Thunderbird Classic Friday, Sept. 6 to Saturday, Sept. 7. The team will open the tournament with a double-header on Friday, playing against Boise State and host Southern Utah before rounding off their time in Utah against 2018 NCAA tournament attendee, St. Mary's College on Saturday.
Up next, Middle Tennessee will compete in the Evansville Dunn Hospitality Tournament in Evansville, Ind. The team will open play on Friday, Sept. 13, competing against Eastern Illinois before competing against Evansville and Fort Wayne on Saturday.
The team will take a break from tournament play for a midweek competition, traveling to Huntsville, Ala. to compete against Alabama A&M on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
For their final tournament of the season, Middle Tennessee will travel east to Cookeville, Tenn. for the Tennessee Tech Invitational on Friday, Sept. 20 to Saturday, Sept. 21. The Blue Raiders will compete against host Tennessee Tech, Southern Illinois and Western Illinois in their last pre-season tournament of their 2019 slate.
Middle Tennessee will host their first game of the season on Sunday, September 22 in the Alumni Memorial Gym, hosting Arkansas Pine Bluff. The team will continue their streak at home a week later, opening conference play in Murfreesboro against Charlotte on Sunday, Sept. 29.
The Blue Raiders will continue their conference slate the following weekend traveling to WKU and UAB before returning home to host Marshall. Middle Tennessee will then be back on the road, traveling to Houston, Texas to compete against Rice before traveling home to host rival WKU.
The team will take a brief break from conference play for a mid-week clash on Tuesday, Oct. 22, traveling to Martin, Tenn. to compete against UT Martin.
Middle Tennessee will then travel to North Texas and Southern Miss before returning home for back-to-back matches in Murfreesboro, competing against UAB and LA Tech. The team travels for their final time during the regular season for a pair of matches in Texas, playing against UTEP and UTSA. The Blue Raiders will round off their regular season conference slate in Nov., playing in the Alumni Memorial Gym against FAU and FIU.
The Conference USA Volleyball Championships will be hosted by Rice this season in Houston, Texas from Nov. 22 to Nov. 24.
