MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After helping first-year men's golf coach Mark McEntire lead Middle Tennessee back to the NCAA Men's Golf Regionals in 2019, Blue Raider great and one-year assistant coach Kent Bulle is returning to his professional golf career this summer.
A four-year Web.com Tour veteran, Bulle took a medical leave from the tour last season, and following a successful shoulder surgery in August, returned to his alma mater to give some of his golf knowledge back to the program he helped lead to three NCAA Regionals and the 2008 NCAA Championships during his collegiate career.
"I want to thank Middle Tennessee State University, (Director of Athletics) Chris Massaro and Coach McEntire for giving me the opportunity to come back here and be a part of this athletic department again," Bulle said. "I'm very fortunate to be able to give back to this program and help the guys progress as golfers and student-athletes. It was awesome to see their growth from August to May and to have all of their hard work culminate with a Conference USA championship.
"I learned just as much from this experience as they did along the way. Being able to teach them on a daily basis also instilled many things in me, as well, and I look forward to using what I learned from them in this experience as I return to the Web.com Tour."
In his lone season back with the Blue Raiders, Bulle helped McEntire revamp the roster and lead a fairly inexperienced team back to glory, raising the Conference USA Championship trophy for the second season in a row and making a third consecutive appearance in NCAA Regionals.
"Kent was instrumental in our success this year, and our team loved having him on the course and at our practices," McEntire said. "His experience as a player and a former student-athlete allowed him to be an excellent mentor to our players."
Now, following his appearance in the Tennessee State Open earlier this summer, Bulle is ready to return to the Web.com Tour, with his first appearance since May 2018 coming at the beginning of the 2020 season when he competes in January at the Great Abaco Classic in the Bahamas.
"I want to thank Kent for everything he did for our program both on and off the course this year," McEntire said. "We wish him, his wife Lauren and their daughter Emma Jane the best as he returns to his professional golf career and know that he will always be a Blue Raider and great ambassador for our program."
