MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Summer. The days are long, whether they include spending time with family or rushing around and trying to cram what can seem like thousands of tasks in before the end of the day.
Whatever it may be, there's always one constant that is a pinnacle part of everyone's day: food.
Finding quick, tasty options for a low price help fulfill whatever it is you're looking for, whether it's something for lunch before you head back to work or an easy-to-make meal for you and your friends so you can hurry back to the pool.
If that's you, Middle Tennessee catcher Brooke McClure has you covered.
Known by her teammates as "Butter," McClure has been making her own skillet pizzas since she was 8 years old.
"I first started making these because when I was home alone (when I was younger), I wasn't allowed to use the oven," she said. "I had to learn how to eat somehow without the oven, so this was the life hack I learned."
The tortilla-sized pizzas can be prepared in less than 10 minutes, and the cost of the ingredients is less than $10.
The simplicity of the recipe and short preparation time can only be botched by one thing, according to McClure.
"Make sure you spray the pan with butter," she said. "Everything is better with butter!"
---------------------------
What you'll need:
10-pack of tortillas
14-ounce jar of spaghetti sauce
Six-ounce bag of pepperoni
Eight-ounce bag of mozzarella cheese
Eight-ounce can of spray-on butter
Instructions:
Notes: Personal-size pizza. Tortilla should be golden-brown in color when prepared correctly. Can be consumed either by cutting into fractional-sized pieces or by folding it in half like a taco. Pepperoni and cheese can be substituted by toppings and cheese of your choice, respectively.
