Scott Kathary announced as Women's Tennis Volunteer Assistant Coach

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis program has added Scott Kathary as an volunteer assistant coach announced by head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall.
"I am greatful for the chance to work with highly motivated players," said Kathary. "MTSU's tennis program has a very positive environment that will help these young adults progress to the next level. Coach Bailey-Duvall has recruited some excellent talent and our current players are strong and going to be great leaders."
An Columbus, Ohio, native, Kathary recently was a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the women's team at Virginia Tech in 2018 before moving to Murfreesboro about a year ago. He also coached professional players for the past eight years and coached at South Florida with talented world ranked juniors after graduating from Youngstown State in 2009.
At Youngstown State, Scott Kathary finished his college career playing at the No. 1 singles with 4-9 record and had his best season at doubles his junior year with a 10-5 record at the No. 1 spot. Kathary was a three-time Second Team All-Conference in the Horizon League.
Kathary graduated from YSU with a degree in Mathematics in 2009.
"I am excited to have Scott join our program," head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall said. "Scott is very passionate about tennis and has a great amount of energy, which will be perfect for our program. Scott's experience as a former player and volunteer coach will allow him to help our players in many ways, while enhancing our team culture."
