Clutch start to the spring season

Freshman clinches first win of 2020
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis took on Liberty Saturday at the FGCU Tennis Complex, bringing down Liberty, 4-3.
Demanding a strong start, freshmen Muskan Gupta and Noelle Mauro topped Flames pair, Almborg/Lovato, 6-2 securing the first doubles victory for the Blue Raiders.
Earning the Blue Raiders an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Flames, Raiders duo Lee Barnard and Zani Barnard clinched the doubles point in the number one spot with a tight 7-6 (7-5) win over Nguyen/Ode.
Liberty took the first two singles matches giving the Flames the lead. Finishing first in singles, Noelle Mauro battled to a 7-5, 6-0 straight-set victory over Grace Hashiguchi followed by senior Marta Peris Herrero securing the Raiders third point with a defeat over Tiffany Nguyen, 6-4, 6-4.
Lidia Burrows battled on court 3, falling short to Liberty's Lovato in three hard-fought sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 tying the match up at 3-3, leaving it to the freshman Muskan Gupta.
With all eyes on court 5, Gupta split sets with Micaela Ode Mitre battling to clinch the match for the Blue Raiders in the third set. Gupta earned a tight win over Ode to clinch the match, with a 7-5 victory in the third set.
The Blue Raiders start the 2020 season out with a bang. They return to action Sunday morning at 10am against South Alabama.
