MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – An incredible week for Middle Tennessee Men's Golf keeps on rolling, as Blue Raiders Tanner Owens and Palmer Sadlowski have been named Conference USA's Co-Golfers of the Week.
The honors come after the two were an integral part of Middle Tennessee's first team championship at the program's home event, The Intercollegiate at The Grove.
Owens led the Blue Raiders on the week with a 2-under par (70-72=142) performance that earned him the fifth Top 5 finish of his career.
The MT senior was in the Top 5 in the field of 84 in Par 5 scoring (-4, 4.50) and total birdies (9), while finishing as one of only nine golfers to post par or better scores in both rounds.
"This is a great recognition for Tanner after a really solid fall season on the course," Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "He has put together a great career here and it comes as no surprise that he was able to do what he did at The Grove this week to earn recognition from the conference."
Sadlowski finished one stroke back of Owens at 1-under par (76-67=143) and tied for ninth place, but provided all of the heroics in the final round for the Blue Raiders.
The Nashville, Tenn., native shot a career low 5-under par 67 that would go down as the tournament's low round on day two and knocked down his sixth birdie putt of the day on the Par 5 18th to claim a share of the team title for the Blue Raiders.
With marks in Par 3 scoring (E, 3.00), Par 5 scoring (-4, 4.50) and total birdies (9) that were each in the Top 7 of the entire field, Sadlowski earned a tie for ninth place that marks his first career Top 10 finish.
"With his final round performance, Palmer just really put the whole team on his back," McEntire added. "He shot the best round of the tournament and of his whole career, and we don't win this tournament without him and that great birdie putt on 18. He's a model student-athlete and I'm ecstatic for him to earn his first Golfer of the Week award."
Now finished with their fall season, the Blue Raider duo and their teammates turn their attention to the spring and hope to carry momentum from a team title in their home tournament all the way to the postseason.
