Raiders finalize fall with 11 wins during weekend

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee State men's tennis team concluded play at the Volunteer Showdown Sunday with graduate student Oskar Michalek collecting the only win against Tennessee.

Sunday's action marked the official conclusion of the Blue Raiders' 2020 fall slate. Overall, they earned 11 wins over tough SEC competition during the weekend.

In singles, the Raiders only win came from the hands of Michalek who battled his way to a hard-fought victory. He ousted Josh Raab in straight sets to claim a 6-3, 6-2 win. Francisco Rocha, Max Rauch and Sean Presson grinded out tough matches but would all fall in three-set affairs.

Sunday's action began with doubles as the Blue Raiders battled four Tennessee tandems. The Raiders dropped all four matches, Rauch and Rocha dropped a close 6-4 decision to Johanhus Monday and Joel Gamerov, while Raiders Andreas Kramer and Michalek were edged in a tight 6-4 decision by Giles Hussey and Martim Prata.
