Raiders sweep the Bulldogs 4-0
DES MOINES, IA. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis secured the season sweep over Drake on Sunday morning, 4-0.
After falling short to Iowa on Friday, the Blue Raiders were eager to bounce back in play, taking on its rematch of Drake at the Knapp Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders opened up quickly in doubles play with Raider pair Chris Edge and Tom Moonen defeating Drake's Hall and Jarvis, 6-3. Senior Max Rauch and sophomore Francisco Rocha clinched the early 1-0 lead with a decisive victory on court two, 6-2.
Ready to finish stron in singles play, the Raiders wasted no time with sophomore Pavel Motl winning his seventh-straight dual match, dominating 6-2, 6-1 win over Drake's Powell increasing the lead, 2-0.
Boosting the Blue Raiders to a 3-0 lead over the Bulldogs, sophomore Stijn Slump stepped up by taking down Drake's Fragistas, 6-2, 6-4.
Wrapping the match up for the Raiders, junior Chris Edge dominated on court four earning a straight set, 7-6, 6-3 victory.
The Blue Raiders improve to 10-2, they head to the Blue Gray Championships in Montgomery, Ala. next weekend.
