Wigginton Earns TSWA Honors

Murfreesboro, Tenn. – Peyton Wigginton has been named the first Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week for the 2020 season. The junior pitcher shares the accomplishment with Tennessee Tech's Jason Hinchman on the offensive side of the ball.
Wigginton turned in a strong performance against No. 13 North Carolina. The Franklin native threw 7.2 innings, allowed five hits, no walks, and stuck out five on his was to a no-decision.
The left-hander kept the Tar Heel offense at bay allowing a .125 opponent batting average with runners on base and allowed just two runners to reach second base all game.
Wigginton retired 13 straight batters before allowing a solo home run with two-outs in the eighth inning.
This is Wigginton's first time receiving TSWA honors.
