MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After spending his freshman season competing for Ben Howland's Mississippi State squad, former Bulldog Elias King is headed to Murfreesboro as he signed his grant-in-aid Wednesday to officially join Head Coach Nick McDevitt and the Blue Raiders.
The 6-foot-8, 205 pound guard has a promising skillset and long, athletic build that garnered a lot of attention out of high school.
An Atlanta native, King was a consensus 4-star prospect who was ranked No. 5 in the state and No. 34 in the southeast per ESPN.com. Lindy's Magazine pegged King as a Top 125 high school recruit in the nation in the 2019 signing class.
"We're extremely excited about the addition of Elias to our basketball program," McDevitt said. "His ability to shoot, pass and handle the ball as a 6-foot-8 guard makes him a real weapon that Blue Raider fans will enjoy watching on the court."
King will come into a Middle Tennessee roster full of fellow Atlanta area products, including St. Francis Brooklyn transfer Jalen Jordan (Conyers), North Florida transfer Brian Coffey II (Snellville), C-USA All-Freshman selection Tyson Jackson (Fairburn), rising sophomore Eli Lawrence (Atlanta) and incoming freshman Christian Fussell (Decatur).
The athletic guard will have three years of eligibility remaining after playing just one season in Starkville.
King joins Fussell – a 6-foot-10, 3-star post player from Greenforest Christian Academy – as the second member in McDevitt's 2020 signing class.
