6-foot-4 forward plays for Russian national program
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Head Coach Rick Insell has announced the signing of Kseniia (Soo-Sha) Kozlova to the Lady Raider program.
Kozlova signed with the Middle Tennessee women's program as the NCAA Division I signing period began today. Kozlova joins Jada Grannum, a 6-foot-3 forward at Lincoln Prep in Mississauga, Ontario in the 2020 Signing Class. Grannum signed with the Lady Raiders during the NCAA early signing period in November.
A native of Moscow, Russia, Kozlova is a 6-foot-4 forward who played prep basketball at Florida's Montverde Academy. Prior to Montverde, Kozlova played for the Russian national program and competed in the 16-U World Championships where she averaged 17 minutes per game. She contributed seven points and five rebounds per outing.
"We are very excited with the signing of (Kozlova)," Insell said. "She is a very skilled player with great athleticism. (Kozlova) is very strong and works hard in the paint. She possesses tremendous tools and she will be a strong addition to our basketball team this fall."
Middle Tennessee will have great size along the frontline with the addition of Grannum and Kozlova, who join redshirt senior Rashika White, a 6-4 post player who sat out last season with an ACL injury.
Kozlova said Middle Tennessee's reputation for developing players and preparing them for a future in professional basketball under Insell was part of her decision-making process.
"One of the biggest reasons I chose MTSU is that I want to play professionally after college," Kozlova said. "Once I got to know the coaches and what the program is all about I feel confident they can get me to where I want to be, so I'm excited to get there and get started. I'm really excited about my decision."
Middle Tennessee returns nine players from its 2019-20 squad that posted a 21-win season and its current roster features 11 student-athletes with the addition of the two signees in the current class.
The NCAA Division I signing period runs through Aug. 1, 2020.
