Blue Raiders place five on Athlon's All-C-USA team

MURFREESBORO – Athlon Sports recognized five Middle Tennessee players today in releasing its All-Conference USA team for 2020.
Safety Reed Blankenship, quarterback Asher O'Hara, lineman Robert Jones and Will Gilchrist, and linebacker DQ Thomas were all honored.
Blankenship was a first team pick after bringing home all-conference recognition as a sophomore and junior. He only played seven games in 2019 after suffering a season-ending injury at North Texas but still finished fourth on the team in tackles with 58 to go with two interceptions.
O'Hara and Jones were both named third team on offense following stellar campaigns in 2019. O'Hara ended his first year as a starter with 2,616 passing yards and 20 touchdowns, while also adding a team-best 1,058 rushing yards and nine scores. He became just the second quarterback in school history to top the 1,000-yard rushing mark.
Jones was an honorable mention all-league pick in 2019 after starting 11 games at tackle. He did not allow a sack all year and was the team's offensive player of the week twice and the top offensive lineman a team-high six times.
Gilchrist garnered fourth team honors after being an honorable mention selection in 2019. He started all 12 games a year ago and was second among linemen with 755 snaps played.
Thomas was also a fourth team pick on defense after starting all 12 games last season and ranking second on the team with a career-best 74 tackles to go with a team-high 12.0 TFLs. He enters his senior campaign ranked tied for eighth in all time sacks with 12.0 and ninth in tackles for loss (29.0).
The Blue Raiders kickoff the 2020 season on Sept. 5 at Duke while the home opener against Indiana State is set for Sept. 12. Season tickets are on sale now at GoBlueRaiders.com/tickets.
