MURFREESBORO – The Adams Tennis Complex, home of the Middle Tennessee men's and women's tennis programs, recently received a major technology upgrade as the PlaySight Smart Court was installed.
Installed last week, the PlaySight system has already generated a lot of excitement around the two programs. The PlaySight Smart Court analyzes all aspects of game play, including but not limited to, serve speed, ball rotation, etc. PlaySight also stores all of the teams' workouts and home matches in the cloud, so that players and coaches are able to go back and review the play either through the on-court consoles or online at home.
Not only can the system be used as a teaching and coaching tool it also allows for all six courts to be live streamed on GoBlueRaiders.com during the men's and women's home tennis matches.
"Installing PlaySight to the Adams Tennis Complex is a huge addition for both Men's and Women's Tennis programs and our tennis community," said Coach Jimmy Borendame. "For player development, coaching, recruiting and continued fan support it just takes us to another level. What makes this even more special is that we are sharing it with the entire community and all the members at the Adams Tennis Complex. This is an amazing teaching and viewing tool that we have added to raise the level of tennis at MTSU and Murfreesboro! It has been a long five year journey but this is very exciting!"
The men's program has had consistent success the past few seasons as the Raiders are 53-22 the past three seasons and earned the program's first Conference USA Championship in 2019. The team has also ranked as high as No. 27 in the nation, that is the highest ranking since 1997 where the team was ranked at No. 17.
"Getting the PlaySight cameras will be a great addition to our program," said Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall. "Having the ability to record and easily review matches and practices will be a great tool helping us take our team to the level. The cameras are also great for our current team members and for recruiting. Many have family and friends far away who will have the opportunity to watch our matches on high quality cameras. We are very excited to use the PlaySight cameras in the coming seasons."
Middle Tennessee women's program got off to a slow start in 2019 before turning things around quickly, rattling off a six-match winning streak before the NCAA was forced to cancel the rest of the spring sports season because of COVID-19. The team held a 9-5 record. The team had also reached an ITA ranking of 83 nationally, just eight places off their goal to start the season.
In addition to serving the university's NCAA Division I tennis programs, the system will also be able to be utilized by the community membership of the Adams Tennis Complex.
"Thank you to all the generous MTSU Tennis supporters for helping raise the $60,000 for this new facility upgrade, we could not do this without you," said Jimmy Borendame.
