MOBILE, Ala. — Middle Tennessee seniors Reed Blankenship and Robert Jones were selected to the 2021 Reese's Senior Bowl Top 250 list which was announced today.
The Reese's Senior Bowl, played in Mobile, Alabama, is the nation's most prestigious college all-star game, serving annually as the first step of the NFL Draft process. A total of 93 players who've participated have been drafted, including 40 in the first three rounds in each of the past two years and 10 first-round picks in 2019.
Two full NFL coaching staffs are included in the Reese's Senior Bowl each year. In 2019, the teams were coached by the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals, and there were over 900 credentialed NFL personnel in attendance for game week.
In recent years, the Reese's Senior Bowl Watch List has contained almost 500 players, but, given the current health climate, the list this year has been trimmed to the top 250.
Inclusion on the list is just the latest for Blankenship, who this preseason has also been named to the watch lists for the Bednarik Award and Jim Thorpe Award and to Bruce Feldman's "Freak" list. The safety from Athens, Alabama was named to the All-Conference-USA Second Team in 2019, the First Team in 2018 and Honorable Mention in 2017, as well as the C-USA All-Freshman Team.
Jones was named an Honorable Mention All-C-USA in 2019, his first season at Middle Tennessee after transferring from Highland Community College (KS). The Chicago native played in all 12 games with 11 starts last season and was named the team's offensive player of the week twice.
