DALLAS – Middle Tennessee standout Reed Blankenship earned First Team Preseason All-Conferences honors, as chosen by the league's 14 head coaches on Tuesday. It marks the second straight year Blankenship has made the preseason team.
Blankenship earned second team all-conference recognition last year despite missing the final five games of the season with an injury. Blankenship, who ranked tied for first nationally in blocked kicks with two, was fourth on the team in tackles with 58 to go with two interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
A team captain in 2019, Blankenship owns 233 career tackles, 15.5 TFLs, 18 pass breakups, eight interceptions and two blocked kicks.
The Blue Raiders are set to begin the 2020 season on Sept. 5 at Army with the home opener scheduled for Sept. 19 against Troy.
