MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's tennis head coach Jimmy Borendame announced the signing of Ondrej Horak to a national letter of intent and the Blue Raiders' class of 2022 on Monday.
"Ondrej will be a very solid player for us in both singles and doubles," expressed coach Borendame. "His rankings and results have been very solid. He is a good student, loves the game, and is hungry to improve. I am excited to work with him."
Horak, a native of Opava, Czech Republic, is a dynamic doubles and singles player who joins the Blue Raiders from Masarykova Střední Škola.
Over the past two weeks, Horak won back-to-back men's future doubles titles in Egypt. Horak was ranked in the International Tennis Federation under 16 as high as No. 16 and has been ranked as ITF under 18 as high as No. 135, marking the second highest ITF player coach Borendame has signed at Middle Tennessee. Horak also ranks as the No. 3 player in the Czech Republic for athletes under 18.
Horak is a two-time doubles champion, for both indoor and outdoor, for under 18 in the Czech Republic. He's a two-time category A champion in the Czech Republic, and three-time doubles and singles ITF champion under 18. Horak helped lead his team to a third-place finish in the first league in 2021. He was a junior grade 1 U18 doubles runner-up, junior grade 2 U18 doubles runner-up, and three-time junior grade 2 U18 doubles semifinalist. He also competed with TK Precheza Přerov.
