Blue Raiders headed to the Bahamas Bowl to face Toledo

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders are going bowling and for the third time in their last five bowl trips it will have a tropical feel.
Middle Tennessee was officially extended an invitation on Sunday for Rick Stockstill's Blue Raiders to represent Conference USA in the Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 17, 2021. It will mark the ninth bowl game of the FBS (I-A) era for Middle Tennessee and the 13th bowl game in school history.
The game against Toledo from the MAC will kick off at 11 a.m. (CT) from the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. The game will air nationally on ESPN and be broadcast on Bowl Season Radio. Both team's will be competing for The Prime Minister's Trophy, awarded to the winner of the contest.
"We are honored to be representing Conference USA in the Bahamas Bowl," said Middle Tennessee Head Coach Rick Stockstill. "I am thrilled for this team and especially our senior class. This is a tremendous award for a team who has overcome a ton of adversity this season. We can't wait to get there."
The Blue Raiders are no stranger to the Bahamas Bowl. Middle Tennessee appeared in the 2015 game where it fell to Western Michigan, 45-31.
This will be the seventh year of the Bahamas Bowl which was canceled in 2020 due to COVID. The Blue Raiders and Rockets will be meeting for the first time in history.
"On behalf of our President, Dr. Sidney McPhee, I am honored and above excited about accepting a bowl invitation from the Bahamas Bowl," said Director of Athletics Chris Massaro. "This will be our second trip to the Bahamas Bowl and our experience was second to none at a place that is truly paradise. We can't wait to get there and create memories of a lifetime for our student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans."
The Blue Raiders (6-6) enter the postseason having won four of their last six games.
Fans can purchase tickets through the Middle Tennessee ticket office by calling 615-898-5261 or logging onto GoBlueRaiders.com. Tickets are $50 each and with each one purchased, you will receive a complimentary 2021 Bowl Bound shirt. The ticket office is open Monday thru Friday from 8 AM until 4:30 PM.
The Blue Raiders will return to practice on Dec. 4th or 5th and will leave for the bowl game on Dec. 13.
