McKay named C-USA Golfer of the Week

Matched school record 54-hole total last weekend
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – After a second consecutive team win in last weekend's Raines Company Intercollegiate, Middle Tennessee's top performer, Connor McKay, has been named Conference USA Male Golfer of the Week.
In a highly impressive weekend, the Knoxville, Tenn., native matched the program record 54-hole total of 203. It is the sixth occurrence of a three-round scorecard of 203 in Blue Raider golf history and only the fourth that came on a Par 72 course.
His 13-under par mark featured three rounds in the 60s, starting with a 69 and 68 on Saturday before firing a career low 66 on Sunday that stands as the eighth lowest round ever by an MT golfer.
As the only golfer in the field of 64 to shoot in the 60s in all three rounds, McKay placed second and was an astonishing six strokes clear of the tie for third place.
"Huge congratulations to Connor on this recognition," Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "I am very proud of him and you can see that his hard work over the offseason is really paying off! I hope this is just the first of many such recognitions for Connor and all of our players this semester."
The award is McKay's first weekly recognition by Conference USA and the second of the season for the Blue Raiders after Tanner Owens and Connor McKay earned Co-Golfer of the Week honors following MT's team title at the Intercollegiate at The Grove.
