MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team collected their first road win of the 2021 campaign on Friday, downing Butler 5-2.
Middle Tennessee (2-4) started fast, collecting the doubles point over the Bulldogs (0-1) by winning two-of-three matches.
The senior duo of Lidia Burrows and Lee Barnard won the first match of the day over Natalie Boesing and Sarah Monesmith 6-1.
On court two, sophomore Muskan Gupta and freshman Love-Star Alexis earned the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Lauryn Padgett and Veronika Bruetting.
In singles play, the Lady Raiders won four-of-six matches.
Muskan Gupta was dominant the first singles win of the day, downing Linn 6-0, 6-2 on court four. The New Delhi, India product earns her first singles win of the season.
Burrows collected the Lady Raiders third point of the day with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Lauryn Padgett on court two. Zani Barnard followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win Schurhamer to clinch the match at 4-0.
Alexis rounds out MT's 5-2 win with a straight-set victory over Bruetting on court five.
Up next, the Lady Raiders will travel to Muncie, Indiana to compete against Ball State.
