Lady Raiders drop tough decision at Ball State, 4-3

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Middle Tennessee women's tennis team fell in the second part of the road trip to Ball State, 4-3.
MT (2-5) got off to a fast start, collecting their second-straight doubles point of the 2021 dual match season over Ball State (2-2).
Sophomore Love-Star Alexis and freshman Lilly-Sophie Schmidt battled to open doubles with a win. Alexis and Schmidt took their match 6-2 over Desai and Polishchuck.
The pair of graduate Lidia Burrows and senior Lee Barnard earned the doubles point for the Blue Raiders, downing Braun and Peeler 6-2 on court one.
In singles play, Ball State picked up wins on courts three, five and six. The Lady Raiders put up a fight, forcing third sets on three courts.
Ball State jumped out to s 3-1 lead, but Burrows earned a pair of straight-set victories on courts two, 7-6, 6-2 to cut the lead to 3-2.
Lee Barnard forced a third set but fell to Peeler 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 on court one to clinch the match for the Cardinals.
Muskan Gupta round out the match with a win in four but the match was already over.
Up next, the Lady Raiders take on Chattanooga February at 1 p.m. CT at the Adams Tennis Complex.
