MT Baseball is Set To Open The Season Against Oakland

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. —For the first time in 348 days, the Middle Tennessee baseball team will be back at Reese Smith Jr. Field! The Blue Raiders will face Horizon League foe, Oakland, for three games in two days beginning on Monday, Feb. 22 at 3:00 p.m. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Tuesday set for a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.

» Middle Tennessee was picked to finish 4th in the West Division of Conference USA's preseason rankings.
» Blue Raider newcomer Brett Coker was selected as a member of the 2021 Preseason All-Conference USA team.
» Head Coach Jim Toman enters his third season with the Blue Raiders after being named the MT skipper on June 20, 2018. In his first two seasons at the helm, Toman has a record of 25-47. Toman posts an overall record of 352-254-1 in 11 seasons as a head coach.

» Oakland had a record of 2-10 in the shortened 2020 season, with a pair of wins over Akron to start the season. The Golden Grizzlies would go onto play a tough schedule featuring No. 8 Auburn, Alabama State, Cincinnati, and Kentucky.
» Oakland returns their top hitter from 2020, senior infielder Michael Stygles. The Dewitt, Michigan native played in all 12 games and led the Grizzlies in hits (15), batting average (.395), slugging percentage (.526), and on base percentage (.500).
» As a team Oakland racked up 38 RBI, 115 total bases, and had a .360 on base percentage.
