MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Senior standout Esther Isa was named Conference USA Female Field Performer of the Meet for her stellar performance at the conference championships last weekend, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
"She has earned it and has worked really hard," said Head Coach Dean Hayes.
The Lagos, Nigeria, native competed in two jump events at the championships – High Jump and Triple Jump – and garnered gold medals in both events.
On day two of the championships, Isa competed in the High Jump and used a jump of 1.78m to capture the title. The jump was a career-best for her in the event. Isa's second gold medal was in the Triple Jump, finishing with a jump of 13.09m.
"She came here as a talent in the High Jump, and then also we taught her how to compete in the Triple Jump. That jump she won it with was a lifetime best for her. She deserves it, she works hard, and I am just happy for her that she was selected for the honor," said Head Coach Dean Hayes.
