MURFREESBORO – Middle Tennessee football announced the addition of 11 student-athletes to the 2021 class on National Signing Day Wednesday. The Blue Raiders inked three players in December to bring their total to 14.
Due to COVID-19, the NCAA granted schools the opportunity for student-athletes to return for another season in 2021. That limits the number of scholarships which makes the class smaller than normal.
The 2021 class includes four offensive linemen, three wide receivers, two quarterbacks, two linebackers, a tight end, a safety and a defensive lineman. The class breaks down as four Power 5 transfers, two junior college transfers and eight high school players.
"Due to our small numbers we were very meticulous in our evaluation process," said head coach Rick Stockstill. "The staff worked very hard in an extremely crazy recruiting year but we were able to fill a lot of our needs. We have some players who will be able to step in and make an immediate impact."
The Blue Raiders will go more in-depth about the 2021 class later this evening with the "MTSU Signing Day Live" show on ESPN3. The hour long show gets underway at 6 PM CT.
