MURFREESBORO – Pavel Motl has been named the Conference USA Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday. The third-year Blue Raider earned a victory against ranked opponents in doubles and picked up two more wins to earn his first-career weekly conference honor.
In doubles play, Motl and his partner, Stijn Slump, earned their best victory in dual play, defeating No. 28-ranked Broska/Ocana of Mississippi State, 6-3 which clinched the doubles point for Middle Tennessee. Motl kept the Blue Raiders alive in the upset bid over the Bulldogs tying the score up at 3-3 with a win over Ramskogler at the No. 6 spot. Mississippi State edged Middle Tennessee, 4-3, with the match going down to the wire.
Motl capped off a strong weekend with a doubles win at the No. 1 spot against Austin Peay with Sean Presson, as the Blue Raiders rolled to a 7-0 victory.
