Chepkemei Collects Gold on First Day of Tiger Track Classic

AUBURN, Ala. – The Middle Tennessee track and field team opened its outdoor season on Friday at the Tiger Track Classic. Eusila Chepkemei collected the Blue Raider's first gold-medal finish of the season in the women's 1500 meters.

Throwing
Regina Yeboah kicked off day one in the women's javelin throw with a 24.95 mark to finish 17th.

Jumps
Akera Benton finished seventh in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.61 meters.

Middle Distance
Chepkemei was crowned women's 1500-meter champion with a time of 4:27.40. Junior Brian Rono took silver in the men's 1500 meters with a time of 3:49.56. Kigen Chemadi took the bronze with a 3:49.56 mark, while Jacob Choge finished eighth with a time of 4:01.68.

Long Distance
Stephen Mengich rounded out the day with a 12th place finish in the men's 5000 meters.
