MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders defender Caroline Manley has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday morning.
Manley anchored a Raider defense that shut out Old Dominion, leading MTSU to a 1-0 road victory for their first win of the season. The Monarchs only managed 12 shots, including just three on goal.
The sophomore becomes the first Blue Raider this season to be named player of the week since Peyton DePriest took home offensive honors in the final week of the 2019 season. Manley is also the first MTSU player to be named defensive player of the week since Emily Jorgenson received the honors on August 31, 2015.
Manley and the rest of her Blue Raider teammates will return to action on Friday when they host Charlotte at the Dean Hayes Track and Soccer stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and can be streamed on CUSA.tv.
