DALLAS, Texas – The Middle Tennessee women's soccer team played a conference-low six games this season, but that didn't stop Peyton DePriest and Alex Goffi from earning All-Conference USA honors.
"I am really happy for both Alex and Peyton," said head coach Aston Rhoden. "It's a real honor for them to be recognized given the quality of players in the league and them having played only 6 games all season."
DePriest was named to the first team for the third year in a row while Goffi earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.
DePriest, the all-time leading goal-scorer in MTSU history, becomes the first Blue Raider in program history to be named All-Conference in four seasons as well as the first Raider to be named to the first team three times.
The Franklin, Tennessee native was fourth in Conference USA with four goals during conference play, three of which were game-winning goals, which led the conference.
This is the second honor from Conference USA in as many days for DePriest as she was named to the Conference USA All-Academic First Team on Sunday.
For Goffi, she turned in a sensational freshman campaign on the Raiders back line, starting every game and playing 509 of a possible 540 minutes, including playing all 90 minutes in four games.
Goffi was part of a defense that shut out both Old Dominion and Florida International on the road this season. She also made one of the defensive plays of the season in a 7-2 win at Marshall when she cleared the ball off the goal line off a corner kick.
With Goffi's selection this season, the Blue Raiders have now had a player recognized on the All-Freshman team in five straight seasons.
