Rono and Torian Name to C-USA All-Academic Team

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Junior Brian Rono and senior Jaquez Torian were named to the Conference USA Men's Track and Field All-Academic Team for the 2021 season, as announced Wednesday by the league office.
Brian Rono posted a 3.714 GPA in integrated studies. This is the second C-USA All-Academic honor that Rono has received this year. He was named to the C-USA Men's Cross Country All-Academic Team in the fall. At the C-USA Outdoor Championships, Rono captured the gold in the 800-meter. He ran a new personal best of 3:45.29 to earn the bronze in the 1500-meter. He currently ranks first in C-USA in the 800-meter and fourth in the 1500-meter.
Jaquez Torian finished the school year with a 3.738 GPA in aerospace. He posted the third-fastest time in C-USA in the 400m at 47.95 with a second-place finish at the C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The senior recorded a 46.98 in the 400m at the War Eagle Invitational on April 17, which ranked 84th nationally and fourth in C-USA. Torian captured the silver in the 400-meter at the C-USA Outdoor Championships with a time of 46.12.
