MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – One of the best to ever come through Middle Tennessee Women's Golf is now back in the program, as Head Coach Chris Adams announced Avery George as her new Assistant Coach on Friday.
After graduation, George played professionally for three years as a member of the Symetra Tour before going on to serve as an assistant pro at Craft Farms Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Ala., and Morgan Hale Performance in Mobile, Ala.
"Avery has a great demeanor for coaching that will make her a huge asset for us, and she will do great things here as a coach," Adams stated. "It is great to be able to bring someone back that had tremendous success here as a student-athlete and that will be very valuable in recruiting as well.
"I am looking forward to working with Avery and I know her golf knowledge will help our players out a lot as she walks down the fairways with them sharing stories about her experiences as a Blue Raider."
No stranger to success on the golf course, George boasted the low stroke average on the team in both 2014-15 (73.03) and 2015-16 (73.70) as she led the Blue Raiders to back-to-back Conference USA Championships and the first two NCAA Regional appearances in school history.
George competed for the Blue Raiders under Adams from 2012-16, a stretch during which she littered the program record book with previously unprecedented numbers.
Her 74.54 career stroke average ranks as the second best number in in the MT record book while her career low round of 64 remains untouched by any other Blue Raider in school history and is one of four school records still in her name.
A three-time All-Conference USA selection (2014, 2015, 2016) and four-time Conference USA Golfer of the Week, George is one of just three Blue Raiders ever to win multiple individual titles having claimed medalist honors at the 2013 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate and 2015 Blue Raider Invitational.
The Cleveland, Tenn., native earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee in May 2016.
