MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee cross country team kicks off its 2021-22 season this Saturday, September 4 at the City Auto Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. This weekend's meet marks the first time the cross country team has competed since October 31, 2020.
The Blue Raiders are coming off a strong 2020-21 season where the women finished first and the men finished second in the conference. This week both teams were polled to finish in the same spots this season, with the women receiving 12 of thirteen first-place votes and the men receiving one vote for first place.
The women are returning all four athletes that placed in the top five at the Conference USA Championships. The 2020 Coach of the Year Keith Vroman looks to get off to a fast start this season with returning senior Joice Jebor along with Faith Rono, Mercy Chepkurui, and Eusila Chepkemei.
The men, who had four student-athletes earn All-Conference honors, look to improve on their second-place finish from a season ago. The team returns three top-ten finishers from the C-USA Championships: Thobile Mosito, Brian Rono, and Jacob Choge.
