Vanderbilt Invitational Ends With a Batch of Personal Bests

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Blue Raiders finished their second meet of the indoor season with a handful of new personal bests and a few second place finished on day two of the Vanderbilt Invitational.
Field Events
Esther Isa earned her second silver of the weekend with a triple jump length of 12.63m.
Track Events
Lyn'Nikka Vance continues to be consistent through her first two meets, winning her prelim heat with a time of 7.55 seconds. In the finals she finished .03 seconds short of her personal best she set last weekend with 7.51 seconds, good enough for fifth place overall.
During the men's 400m dash, Connor Ono was able to capture bronze with a new personal best time of 48.77 seconds. Darien Jones was not far behind with a time of 48.86 seconds in sixth place.
The men's 3000m went great for the Blue Raiders with all three runners setting new personal bests. Vincent Yegon turned the burners on in his flight in the final minute, lapping other runners and ending with a time of 8:19.58, good enough for fourth place. Habtamu Geta landed in sixth place with a time of 8:21.22. Carmelo Cannizzaro was around 10 seconds behind them in 15th place with a final time of 8:34.60.
The Blue Raider's track and field team will be back on the road next weekend for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, hosted by Louisville Friday, January 28, and Saturday, January 29.
