Blue Raiders close with best round of tournament; finish ninth

Four of five lineup members record best round of the weekend.
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Middle Tennessee women's golf finished the Evie Odom Invitational in ninth place, holding steady in the standings after a 281 (+1) in the third round that marked its best round of the tournament. Taylor Edlin finished tied for 11th individually at 213 (+3) to lead the Blue Raiders, while Lanie Campbell's 67 (-3) Sunday was the team's best round of the tournament.
MTSU recorded a 54-hole score of 866 (+26) on the par 70, 5,824-yard course, coming within one stroke of overtaking eighth-place Princeton.
Edlin added four more birdies to bring her team-leading total to 13 for the tournament, but ended the third round at 74 (+4). She finished 12 strokes off the individual lead.
Campbell carded four birdies of her own to go along with just one bogey in the third round for a career-low 67. She finished the tourney at 225 (+16), tied for 61st overall.
Molly Bebelaar completed MTSU's most consistent performance of the weekend, carding a 72 (+2) for the third straight round. She tied for 22nd individually at 216 (+6).
Abbie Lee recorded her best round of the weekend with a 70 (E) Sunday. She wrapped up the event in a tie for 50th at 221 (+11). Catherine Caudill tied for 56th at 223 (+13) after a 72 (+2) in the third round, also her best round of the tournament.
Playing as an individual, Lauren Gilchrist slipped to a tie for 64th at 226 (+16) with a 78 (+8) in the final round.
The Blue Raiders finished with a 54-hole score of 866 (+26). MTSU took seven strokes off its second round score and 16 off its first round score.

"We improved each day, and I am pleased with that. Lanie had a great round today, and Taylor and Molly had top 25 finishes. With the weather we had this weekend, I was surprised we got the tourney in, but it turned out to be great today.
