Timeline for Salute to Veterans & Armed Forces Day

40TH ANNUAL SALUTE TO VETERANS & ARMED FORCES TIMELINE
Celebrate America and our Freedom
• 8 a.m. — Walnut Grove opens for tailgating
• 10:30 a.m. — Ticket Office opens
• 11 a.m. — Memorial service recognizing Afghanistan-era veterans will be held at the MTSU Veterans Memorial outside the Tom H. Jackson Building.
• 11:30 a.m. — Varsity Club Tailgate at Hall of Fame
• Noon — Veterans picnic, sponsored by MT Athletics, will take place outside the Emmett and Rose Kennon Hall of Fame adjacent to Floyd Stadium on the lawn. All veterans and active duty service members and family eat free. During the picnic, I.V. Hillis Jr., of McMinnville, Tennessee, who served in the Tennessee House of Representatives from 1971 to 1995 and chaired the House Veterans Affairs Committee, will be presented with the Dr. Joe Nunley Award. The award celebrates the career of Nunley, an alumnus who served in the Army in World War II and returned to then-Middle Tennessee State Teachers College as a professor, historian and director of Alumni Affairs.
• 12:15 p.m. — Raider Walk in Walnut Grove adjacent to Peck Hall.
• 1 p.m. — Stadium gates open. Military static displays and Vet Village at Gate 3 with resources for veterans and active duty service members and family.
• 1 p.m. — Blue Raider Beer Garden opens. Brew of the game is Salute to Service American Pale Ale
• 2:16 p.m. — National Anthem by Rachel Lipsky
• 2:30 p.m. — Game ball delivery by Col. Jimmy Reed
• 2:32 p.m. — Kickoff between MTSU and Charlotte
• HALFTIME — Salute to Veterans & Armed Forces Parade following by MTSU Band of Blue playing military-themed songs for each military branch (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy and Marines) — including the new U.S. Space Force, whose theme song, "Semper Supra" (Latin for Always Above), was written by Commercial Songwriting adjunct faculty member Jamie Teachenor. THE BAND OF BLUE WILL BE THE FIRST MARCHING BAND TO EVER PERFORM SEMPER SUPRA.

• Student Giveaways: 500 camo lanyards and Hot Chocolate/Popcorn Vouchers
• Food Truck Saturday: 6 trucks inside the stadium (SingleTree BBQ, Codger's, The Spice is Right, Kona Ice and Fatty Matty's)
• "The Fox Weather Beast" storm-chasing news truck will be located near the Hall of Fame lawn
