MTSU Outhits North Texas in a Three-Set Loss on Sunday

DENTON, Texas - The Middle Tennessee volleyball team let the serve-receive battle decide the match on Sunday, as they lost the match to North Texas in three sets. The three-set match saw the Blue Raiders outhit the Mean Green for the entirety of the match also.
The Blue Raiders (15-11, 4-8 C-USA) dropped their lone matchup with the North Texas Mean Green (13-14, 7-5 C-USA), with set scores of 21-25, 26-28, and 23-25. The biggest factor of the match was the 14 service errors and nine reception errors, which saw the Blue Raiders lose by a combined eight points in the three sets. Middle Tennessee held leads of 15-4 (+11) in the second and 13-7 (+6) in the third set, which made the result even more shocking in the end.
Freshman Adri Rhoda led the way for the Blue Raiders, racking up a match-leading 11 kills (11-3-23) on a .348 hitting percentage to go along with two service aces. Senior Kayla Henley was not far behind with nine kills (9-2-19) on a .368 hitting percentage to go along with three solo blocks.

.429: Graduate student Julia Carter led the Blue Raiders in percentage, jumping into the match in the final set with three kills (3-0-7) and a block to give MTSU a jolt of energy.

- Rhoda has 61 service aces on the season already, giving her first place on the 25-point scoring era records list and giving her fifth on the all-time season list. Rhoda also took sole possession of ninth on the career-service aces list in the 25-point era tonight..
- Banton currently sits at 1,229 career digs, giving her sole possession of first place in the 25-point era for career digs. She currently sits in seventh on the all-time list.
- Oscarson holds the 25-point era record for single season solo blocks at 23 and counting.
