Four Blue Raiders earn Conference USA Postseason Awards

DALLAS - Conference USA announced its men's basketball postseason awards today with four Blue Raiders among the honorees. Josh Jefferson was named Second Team All-Conference, Donovan Sims earned Honorable Mention All-Conference, Teafale Lenard Jr. made the All-Freshman Team, and Nick McDevitt was named the Gene Bartow Coach of the Year. Player awards were voted on by coaches, sports information directors and members of the media, while the Coach of the Year award was only voted on by coaches.
Jefferson leads Middle Tennessee in scoring at 14.6 points per game and averaged 16.6 in conference play. The graduate transfer has scored in double figures 15 times in 16 league games and in each of his last 10, including a pair of 30-plus point contests against Western Kentucky (1/29) and Charlotte (2/13).
Sims is the Blue Raiders assists leader at 2.6 per game. Middle Tennessee's second-leading scorer, Sims has scored in double figures in four of his last five games and averaged 11.3 in C-USA games.
Sims and Jefferson are the first Blue Raiders to be named All-Conference since 2018.
Lenard caps off a season in which he won four C-USA Freshman of the Week awards by becoming MT's second All-Freshman team selection in the last three years. The Snyder, Texas, native is fifth in the league with 42 blocks on the season, the ninth-most in a season by a Blue Raider.

McDevitt has led one of the largest turnarounds in the country this year, as the Blue Raiders have improved upon their 2020-21 win total by 17, the third-highest total in the country. MT has increased its winning percentage by .492, second-most among teams that played 20 or more games in 2020-21.
McDevitt is the second Middle Tennessee head coach to be named C-USA Coach of the Year, joining Kermit Davis, the 2017 recipient of the award.
