Maryb S. Kauth Invitational ends with Blue Raiders in seventh place

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Middle Tennessee women's golf placed seventh at UTSA's Maryb S. Kauth Invitational at San Antonio Country Club this week. The Blue Raiders combined for a third-round score of 319 (+31) Tuesday and wrapped up the event with a sore of 919 (+55) on the par 72, 6,131-yard course at San Antonio Country Club.
Every team in the field recorded its highest score of the tournament Tuesday as winds in the Texas hill country were 15 miles per hour at the start of the round and only got stronger throughout the day. Team scores increased by an average of four strokes in the third round.
"It was pretty tough conditions today with 30 mile per hour winds, but we definitely left some shots out there," head coach Chris Adams said. "Hopefully it prepared us a little for the conference tournament and the Florida winds we expect. We have a week and a half to get prepared for conference, and we will be ready to compete."
Caroline Caudill recorded MT's best score of the third round, finishing the day with a 77 (+5). She ended the event in a tie for 29th place at 233 (+17).
Sophie Burks finished the tournament 15th individually at 227 (+11) to lead Middle Tennessee. She carded an 82 (+10) on Tuesday.
Madison Smith's 229 (+13) put her in a tie for 23rd individually. She closed the tourney with a score of 80 (+8).
Molly Bebelaar tied for 31st with a 54-hole score of 234 (+18). She recorded a score of 84 (+12) in the final round.
Catherine Caudill tied for 42nd at 239 (+23), carding an 80 (+8) in the third round.
Playing as an individual, Taylor Edlin finished 47th overall at 241 (+25).
Smith, Bebelaar, Caroline Caudill and Edlin tied for the team lead with six birdies apiece over the course of the tournament.
The Conference USA Championships will be held April 18-20 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
