Middle Tennessee Soccer adds Oliveras, Kvaale, and Thomas

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Soccer head coach Aston Rhoden continues to add to an impressive 2022 class with another trio of additions in Jessica Oliveras, Idun Kvaale, and Delaney Thomas. The new Blue Raiders hail from Florida, Norway, and Georgia.
Jessica Oliveras
D | 5-7 | Sunrise, Fla. | American Heritage School
Jessica Oliveras comes to Middle Tennessee as a letterwinner from American Heritage School. Oliveras helped lead the Patriots to a FHSAA 3A State Championship during the 2018-19 season. She was also named as the American Heritage Plantation Campus Defensive MVP for the 2020-21 season. In the classroom, Oliveras was honored with the visual concepts and ceramics student award.
In addition to her high school career, Oliveras has also competed at the club level with FC Prime for 11 years, as well as with Sunrise Sting. She qualified for the ECNL nationals during the 2020-21 season and is a two-time State Cup Champion during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.
"Jess is a very attacking minded outside back," said head coach Aston Rhoden. "She gets forward well and can play dangerous crosses in the box. She is good in one-versus-one situations and has great endurance. A natural leftie, Jess will add some balance to our back line."
Idun Kvaale
M | 5-4 | Skaala, Norway | Romsdal Videregående Skole
Idun Kvaale, a native of Skaala, Norway comes to Middle Tennessee from Romsdal High School. Kvaale played at the club level with Molde for two years, as well as Sogndal, Skaala, Langfjorden, and Traeff. She was named best team player and best player.
"Idun is versatile player capable of playing in the back and in midfield," said Aston Rhoden. "She has great pace, game intelligence and will pose an attacking threat. Her versatility will help us play in different systems and add some depth to our midfield."
Delaney Thomas
M | 5-4 | Carrollton, Ga. | Carrollton High School
Delaney Thomas, from Carrollton, Georgia, joins the Blue Raiders after her letter-winning career at Carrollton High School. During her senior season, Thomas scored 18 goals and dished out six assists for the Trojans. Academically, Thomas ranked in the top-10 of her class for GPA and was a Junior Honor Marshall. She was also a dual-enrolled student receiving college credit in her dual-credit courses and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.
In addition to her high school career, Thomas also competed at the club level with Tophat Soccer Club. She played six years with Tophat Soccer Club, while also competing with Southern Soccer Academy and West Georgia Football Club for four additional years. Throughout her club career, she was a U-14: Development Academy (DA) Southeast Conference Champion, a U-15: DA Southeast Conference Champion and national top-8 finish, U-16: DA Southeast Conference Leader, U-17: Girls Academy League (GAL) Southeast Conference Champion and national third-place finish, and U-19: GAL Champions Cup Final 8 finish. Thomas also served as a team captain on her U-13 and U-14 teams and served as the GAL Club Representative (2021-22) and participated in the US National Team National Training Center and Region 3 Identification Camp, as well as the GAL Southeast Talent Identification Camp and the Georgia and Southeast Region Olympic Development Program.
"Delaney is a strong attacking player whose very good at creating and scoring goals," expressed Aston Rhoden. "She has good pace, plays well with both feet, and can play multiple attacking positions. Her versatility will improve our depth in several positions."
