Speirs Recognized on C-USA All-Academic Team

DALLAS – Middle Tennessee catcher Mason Speirs has been named to the 2022 Conference USA Baseball All-Academic Team, league officials announced Monday afternoon.
Speirs, one of 11 student-athletes on the list, graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in biology. He finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.65, which included a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll during the 2021-22 academic year.
Speirs has recorded over triple the number of hits in 2022 (46) than his two previous seasons combined (15). A native of Westminster, Colo., Speirs recorded 14 multi-hit games and set new career highs in hits (four at Rice, May 15) and home runs (two at UAB, March 27) during his breakout 2022 season. Speirs recorded at least two hits in five straight games in March as part of a 12-game on-base streak.
Middle Tennessee opens the 2022 Conference USA Baseball Championship vs. Old Dominion May 25. First pitch is set for 9 a.m. from Hattiesburg, Miss.
