MT Is Bloomington Bound for NCAA East Preliminaries

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's and women's track and field teams are heading to the four-day NCAA East Preliminaries, hosted in Bloomington, Indiana from Wednesday, May 25, to Saturday, May 28. The women are sending five athletes and the men are sending four for a total of nine Blue Raiders.

The Meet Schedule
The Blue Raiders will kick off the NCAA East Preliminaries on Wednesday afternoon at 6:00 p.m. with the men's long jump and 110-meter hurdles. Wednesday and Thursday's events will be primarily made up of first rounds of events, while Friday and Saturday will be the semifinals and quarterfinals for events.

Last Time Out for the Blue Raiders – Full Recap
The Middle Tennessee men's and women's track and field teams took 15 trips to the podium over the weekend at the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The 15 trips included nine total gold medals for the Blue Raiders. The men finished in sixth with 89 points and the women finished in third with 92 total points.
Freshman Alaba Akintola took first in both the men's 100 meter and 200 meter with stadium-record times. During the 100-meter dash, Akintola finished with a time of 10.04 seconds. His new personal best erased .03 seconds from Mardy Scales 10.04 second mark in 2004. The time was also a C-USA meet record and the ninth-fastest time in the nation. Akintola ran a time of 20.36 seconds in the men's 200-meter dash, sweeping both the indoor and outdoor 200-meter titles in 2022.
Eusila Chepkemei took gold in both the women's 800-meter and 1500-meter dashes. Chepkemei ran a time of 4:21.22 during the 1500 meter to take her first medal of the weekend. During the women's 800 meter she ran a time of 2:06.14, just a couple seconds off of her personal best.
