MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall announced the signing of Camila Barragan Cañas to a national letter of intent and the Blue Raiders' class of 2022 on Thursday morning.
"We are happy to welcome Camila to our Blue Raider family!" said Bailey-Duvall. "Camila's passion and drive for improvement and success is exactly what we want at the heart of our program. She will be a great addition."
Barragan Cañas, a native of Lecheria, Venezuela, makes her way to Murfreesboro after attending U.E.A.I Juan Jacobo Rousseu in her hometown.
During her 2022 youth season, Camila has won two titles in the ProTeam Tennis Academy Invitational Tournament in doubles and singles and a State Tournament in doubles.
Camila joins Rutuja Chaphalkar and Sana Garakani as the newcomers to the 2022-23 squad. The three future Blue Raiders will join six returners from last year's roster who led MT to nine overall wins.
Notably, Barragan Cañas achieved numerous academic achievements in high school and will bring an incredible character to Middle Tennessee, where she intends to study Psychology.
