Gupta continues her singles winning streak at day one of the MTSU Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee completed day one of the MTSU Invitational on Friday at the Adams Tennis Complex.
In singles, MTSU faced North Alabama (UNA) and Western Kentucky (WKU) tallying three wins.
To end singles for the day, Muskan Gupta continued her singles winning streak this fall with a 7-6 (3),5-7, 10-7 win against Martina Paladini (UNA). Love-Star Alexis defeated Valeria San Miguel (UNA) 6-1, 7-5 for the first singles victory for the Blue Raiders on Friday. Karen Yibirin picked up her first collegiate singles wins in over Nicole Reilly (UNA) 6-3, 6-4.
In the first session of doubles, MTSU competed against UT-Chattanooga (UTC) and WKU winning two matches.
Alexis and Rutuja Chaphalkar fought in a tiebreak against Caroline Gibbens and Jessie Young (UTC) to pick up a win 7-6 (5). Noelle Mauro and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt won 6-3 over Coco Bosman and Lucia Garrigues-Melendez (UTC).
In the second session of doubles, the Blue Raiders played Bellarmine (BELL) and WKU coming out of the session with two victories.
The duo of Mauro and Gupta pulled out the 6-4 victory over Hanley Riner and Cydney Rogers (BELL). Sana Garakani and Schmidt won their doubles match against Channing Varnum/Maja Kozerski (BELL) 6-2.
