LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Kendall Maynard and Ella Manley powered the Middle Tennessee lineup on a day that saw some early rain in the second round of the New Mexico State Golf Iconic Classic on Tuesday, each carding rounds of 71 (-1). Lauren Gilchrist set a new personal best with a 70 (-2) as an individual.
Manley was the Blue Raiders' most consistent performer on the day, picking up 15 pars. After a bogey on her 12th hole of the day, she birdied two of the next five to get back under par. The Calhoun, Ga., native is tied for 22nd at 144 (E) heading into the final round.
Maynard finished her day strong as well, carding three birdies and four pars over her final seven holes. She sits in a tie for 61st at 150 (+6).
Gilchrist picked up five birdies Tuesday, including one on 18, her first hole of the round. She eclipsed her previous career low by one stroke and is tied for 46th at 148 (+4).
Lanie Campbell is tied for 32nd overall at 146 (+2). Abbie Lee heads into the final day of play tied for 69th at 152 (+8) after a 75 (+3) showing Tuesday.
Nicole Johnson rounds out the lineup at 158 (+14).
The Blue Raiders carded a collective 295 (+7) for their fifth-lowest team round of the season.They head into the third round in 11th place with a score of 589 (+13).
