Sanga named CUSA Women’s Athlete of the Week

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Purity Sanga was announced as the Women's Athlete of the Week announced by the Conference USA office Tuesday afternoon.
This past weekend in Tuscaloosa, Sanga led the Blue Raiders to a fourth-place finish at the Crimson Classic. Her time of 19:35.30 gave her a sixth overall finish in a field of 217 runners. The women's team scored 175 points against a total of 24 teams, trailing just Alabama, Auburn and Belmont.
The graduate student from Kenya has earned the fourth weekly award of the cross country season for Middle Tennessee. Faith Nyathi was named CUSA Women's Athlete of the Week on September 5 and 19. Brian Kiptoo was named Men's Athlete of the Week on September 19 as well.
"That's a great honor for Purity," said Head Coach Keith Vroman. "I'm so happy for her! She's overcame a lot of challenges to put herself in this position."
Next Up for the Blue Raiders
The Blue Raider men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Bowling Green, Ky. for the CUSA Championships on October 28.
