Gregory named CUSA Player of the Week

She becomes the fourth Lady Raider to pick up a weekly award through five weeks
DALLAS – Following strong performances against Tennessee and Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee guard Jalynn Gregory was named the Conference USA Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
Gregory, a junior from Lafayette, Tennessee picked up her third career weekly accolade – she was previously named Freshman of the Week twice in 2022.
The sharpshooter helped lead the Lady Raiders to a 2-0 week, with a pair of wins over in-state opponents. She tallied 22 points, five rebounds and three assists in Middle Tennessee's 73-62 win over Tennessee. This marked the first win over the Lady Vols in program history and ended a 17-game win streak for Tennessee against in-state opponents. Gregory went 6-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe, while holding Tennessee's Jewel Spear to just three points. Spear was averaging double-figures entering the game. Gregory followed that performance up with a season-high 25 points and four steals against Tennessee Tech, where she went 8-of-15 from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and held Tennessee Tech's Maaliya Owen to just two points. Owens was named the OVC Preseason Player of the Year and entered the game averaging 14.3 points per game.
Gregory averaged 23.5 points on the week, draining nine three-pointers and shooting 50 percent from long range, and is averaging 11.3 points, 3.8 boards and 2.3 steals on the season. She leads the league in Free Throw Percentage, shooting 89.4 percent on the season, and is second in the league in Three-point Field Goals made with 24, behind teammate Courtney Whitson.
